A Visitor from Deep Time: First Appearance in 170,000 Years!

Imagine looking up at the exact same comet our ancient ancestors might have seen when modern humans were just beginning to migrate out of Africa. Comet C/2025 R3 (PanSTARRS) is making its closest approach to the Sun right now!

The Flight Path & Key Dates:

April 17 (Today): The comet is currently passing through the constellation of Pegasus. It is sitting at a magnitude of roughly 4.4 to 4.9, making it a fantastic target for binoculars and small telescopes.

April 19 (Perihelion): The comet will reach its closest point to the Sun (perihelion) in just two days. As it gets blasted by solar heat, we expect a surge in its brightness and tail length.

April 26 (Perigee): It makes its closest approach to Earth, passing safely at a distance of about 73 million kilometers.

You'll likely need binoculars or a small telescope for the best view!
